Former Carers

Having spoken to some of you that have been with Renfrewshire Carers Service for sometime but who are now no longer in a caring role, we are looking to set up a Former Carers Group. It will be a great opportunity to meet others in a similar position, socialize and discuss ideas for future groups, for example whether or not you would like information talks, informal chats or trips and activities.

This can be a hard time for you, as you find you have more time on your hands but have lost many of your friendships and identity in your role as a carer. Being able to come together to gain and provide other users with peer support will help you through this transition.

You have learnt many skills over the years and using these to help others, or looking to gain new interests and friendships can all be covered.

The direction of this group and how you would like to run it are all up to the members.

The 1st meeting of this group will be 1-3pm, on Thursday the 8th of March, in the Norcroft Medical Centre. Follow up dates will be discussed at this meeting. Please feel free to come along.
