The Centre was successful with a bid to the Short Breaks Fund to have two groups for Young People who have ADHD and associated conditions. The aim of the project is to provide parent carers and their families looking after a young person with ADHD a regular break from their caring role through providing group activities for the young people. The funding will provide 2 weekly groups for a total of 16 young people aged 8 – 16 years. This means that 16 families will receive a regular 3 hour break from their caring role. Transport will be organised to bring the young people to the group and activities will for them will include arts and crafts sports ten pin bowling to name a few. Over the summer the young people will go further a field with various outings; again this will enable the carer respite during the school holidays.
This Group will be running every fortnight at the Carers Centre and will be in partnership with the NHS Health Improvement Team and the Integrated Alcohol Team.
